About Operation 414
Named after the street which inspired the idea (KG 414), Operation 414 innovates cost-effective and environmentally sustainable means of constructing dirt roads in Kigali. It evolved from the realization that over 80% of roads in Rwanda are unpaved, which impedes economic growth and potential. Within our operating model, we invite members of communities to participate in the process of developing infrastructure. This can be done by gathering plastics for recycling or showing up on instalment day to pave the streets to a brighter future!

Our Process
The procedure and objectives of Operation 414 align with the growth masterplan of the Rwandan government
and the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Acquiring Resources
In addition to sharp sand, natural sand, and jointing sand, PET plastics would be gathered in accordance with the project requirements.

Installation & Finishing Touches
With the support of the community, the pathway would be cleared and the pavers would be fixed into place. Post-survey and evaluation.
Survey & Consultations
This step includes
observing the site,
meeting key stakeholders, incorporating their ideas, and presenting a quote.

Brick
Production
A custom-designed machine, called the 414 Brickifier, aids this part of the process. It is theorized to form up to 200 bricks per hour.
